The revelations from Prince William’s friend, who exposes the ongoing disagreement with King Charles, show the emotional complexities within the royal family.

On July 9, Meredith Mains, the Duke of Sussex’s chief of staff and communications director, and Liam Maguire, the Sussexes’ UK spokesperson, were photographed meeting with Tobyn Andreae, King Charles’s communications secretary.

There was no formal agenda — just casual drinks. There were things both sides wanted to talk about.

The informal conversation, which took place at the Royal Over-Seas League, a private members’ club just a short walk from Charles’s London residence, Clarence House, included what appeared to be a gift bottle of wine brought by Andreae.

While Prince William’s team were reportedly not invited to the shock summit, experts have revealed the hidden role he likely played behind the scenes as the future of the monarchy.

They claim that while the Prince of Wales is far less inclined to reconcile with his estranged brother — whom he’s reportedly not spoken to in years — the meeting would have never happened without his support and understanding.

Charles is more anxious to patch things up than William, who many believe will never be close to his brother again.

Mains, dressed in a sleek cream jacket, heels, and clutching a black Louis Vuitton bag, reportedly jetted back to the Sussexes’ £15 million Montecito mansion straight after the summit, where she’s believed to have given Harry a full briefing.

It’s unclear who arranged the supposed peace talks, though the Duke has recently signaled his desire to reconcile with his family following King Charles’s cancer diagnosis, announced last February.

It’s also not known whether Harry and Charles have spoken recently, or whether the July 9th meeting signals the start of something more meaningful.

Harry is due to return to the UK in September for the annual WellChild Awards in London — a charity he has been patron of for 17 years — and hopes have been raised that he could meet with his father when he returns to his home country.

While it is not clear if he will bring wife Meghan Markle and their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to the UK for the event, it is reported that Harry has sent an emailed invitation to King Charles and other senior royals last month, which will be followed by a formal invitation at a later date.
