Rumors run wild in the San Fernando Valley, and one of the biggest in Season 2 centered around Jason Caperna. Allegedly Jason was spotted removing his wedding ring during nights out without his wife, Janet. However, the lawyer consistently denied the claims throughout the season, standing firm against the swirling speculation.

Kristen Doute first brought up the rumor in Episode 7 of The Valley, leaving Janet and Jason visibly shocked, though they initially laughed it off. As the season progressed, however, the ring rumor clearly began to weigh on them. Their decision to get matching tattoos on their ring fingers in Episode 14 felt like an unusual move — either a pointed attempt to shut down the speculation or a subtle way of mocking it.

“Janet and I are getting this tattoo so that she can rest assured that whenever I’m out, I’ll 100% have a ring on my finger — even if it’s not the actual gold ring, it’s the tattooed ring.”

During The Valley After Show, the cast had plenty to say about Jason and Janet’s ring tattoos, but it was Kristen’s reaction that truly stole the spotlight.

“Oh, my God, they’re going to think of me every time they look [at their rings] for the rest of their lives,” she shared.

Kristen added, “When people are like, ‘That’s so cute, why’d you guys do that?’ They’re going to be like, ‘Well, there was this rumor going around.'”

Jesse Lally also chimed in, “With the rate we are going at on The Valley, they might have to have that tattoo removed at some point.” Meanwhile, Zack Wickham compared their ring tattoos to Jax Taylor’s famous tattoos in which he would get the names of his girlfriends (fans will remember his Stassi tattoo on VPR) and later regretted, having to cover them up. “Tattoos obviously neer go wrong, look at Jax Taylor,” Zack jokingly shared.

In Episode 14, the Capernas head to a tattoo shop to get their ring tattoos, with Janet explaining in a confessional: “Jason and I have talked about this ring rumor often, and I think I made a joke to Jason, like, ‘Well, you should just get your ring tattooed on and then nobody will have anything to say ever. It just always will be there.'”

After getting their matching tattoos—Jason opting for a black line and Janet a white one over their wedding rings—Jason claimed it “actually strengthened our relationship.” Still, their co-stars had plenty of opinions, especially about the couple’s ongoing fixation with the rumor that sparked it all.

Jason told Janet that the ring rumor was now “gone full circle.” He added, “Thanks for getting a tattoo of your ring on yourself because now I’ve got you forever.”

“We’re like Pam [Anderson] and Tommy [Lee] over here.”

Although Kristen was the one to bring up the rumor to the Capernas, it was actually Jasmine Goode and Melissa, who heard the rumor first. In another episode of the After Show, Jasmine recalled hearing the rumor three years ago at a party from people who used to be Jason’s friends. “A lot of things were said — not just him taking off his ring,” she shared.

Jasmine went on to state that these friends were allegedly “pissed off” when Jason missed an event “because of his wife” and they all began to gossip about their marriage. However, these same “friends” later denied conjuring up any stories about Jason. In the same episode, Zack shared, “You don’t know if it’s true or not, but yeah, do we believe it? Probably not. But also, that’s a very specific thing to say about somebody.”

Another Rumor Is Swirling That Janet Found Herself In The Friend Group Because She Was A Major Fan

While getting their tattoos, Jason and Janet also opened up about the online hate they’ve been receiving—particularly Janet. She addressed accusations that she was just a Vanderpump Rules superfan trying to wedge her way into the friend group for a shot at being on TV.

“The insults Kristen’s used towards me recently have been things that I see in the comments. It’s clear she’s reading this stuff and then using it against me to hurt me,” she told Jason.

While in Maui, Kristen and Janet were in a heated exchange that ended with Kristen calling Janet: “You’re a f****** fan, b****.” Rumors have since circulated online about how Janet may have found her way into the group by allegedly moving to Los Angeles and befriending Scheana Shay just to be on the show. Janet even addressed all the speculation during a guest appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Andy asked Janet, “Okay, Janet, once and for all, did you move to LA to infiltrate the Vanderpump Rules cast?”

Janet stated, “I want to say yes because that would make such a good story. So, I wish that was true, but unfortunately, it was just Scheana [Shay] and I met and got along.” Janet also shared that she didn’t “intentionally” go to the event becuase Scheana was there.

Janet and Jason welcomed a son named Cameron on December 7, 2023.

Speaking to Glamour, Janet shared that she moved from Ohio to L.A. after getting divorced from her first husband. “I decided to get divorced, moved to LA, and I met Scheana my first weekend right after I signed a lease. I met her at a pool party the next day,” she shared. In fact, Janet shared that she even introduced herself to Scheana as a fan of her’s and VPR.

“So I was like, Oh my gosh, that’s Scheana from Bravo. I went up to her and introduced myself as a fan,” the reality star said.

Janet and Scheana apparently hit it off, and fans may recall that Janet has even made a cameo or two on Vanderpump Rules in the past. That connection only fueled speculation that Janet was angling for a spot on the show, though she’s continued to deny any ulterior motives.
