Jax Taylor lost his father in 2017 when he was still on Vanderpump Rules. Jax was an original cast member on the show when it premiered in 2013. He left the show in 2020 to focus on his growing family with then-wife Brittany Cartwright. The former couple welcomed their first and only child, Cruz, in 2021. It was later confirmed that Jax was actually fired from the show.
His Bravo co-star rallied around him after his father’s death. Jax and Brittany were broken up at the time after he cheated on her with Faith Stowers, but reconciled after the shocking loss.

The Valley Brittany Cartwright Shares Update On Divorce
Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor married in 2019 in a stunning ceremony in her home state of Kentucky. The couple was slated to star in a new Bravo show about their lives as parents. But shortly before The Valley was scheduled to premiere, Brittany Cartwright revealed that they had separated.
Viewers who tuned into the first season of The Valley watched the decline of Jax and Brittany’s marriage. She officially filed for divorce in the summer of 2024. Despite their strained relationship, Jax and Brittany both returned for Season 2 of the Bravo show.
Season 2 documented Jax’s stay at a mental health facility and the continued deterioration of his relationship with his estranged wife. During the recent reunion episode, Jax admitted that he wasn’t sure if they should get divorced or not.
“There’s days where I’m like, ‘Yes, we should get divorced because we are toxic.’ Then there’s days where we’ll be getting along, and I’m like, ‘Is this the right f—king move?’ And I’ll even text her,” he confessed.
Brittany hit back by saying it’s hard on her when he says things like that. There hasn’t been much movement in the divorce proceedings but the divorce is still happening.
During a July appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Brittany Cartwright revealed that the divorce will be finalized in October.
Jax Taylor Sends Shocking Message About Dead Father
In addition to being fired, Jax Taylor recently ended his partnership on a bar he owned in Los Angeles. The former reality star makes money on the side with Cameo videos. His rates start at $159 for a video message. But one customer got way more than they bargained for. They bought a video message for a friend whose father recently died.
The fan thought that Jax, who has been through losing his dad, might have encouraging words for their friend. He did not. Jax Taylor kept it real about what it’s really like to lose a parent.
“You just lost your father, and I won’t sit here and be like, it’s gonna be okay. I’m sure everybody’s saying that to you right now. It’s not. It’s not gonna be okay … Right now, it’s the best it’s ever gonna be,” Jax said.
He continued, “And it’s actually worse now than it’s ever been. So I can sit here and blow smoke up your *ss and say, oh, my god. Don’t worry, he’s in a better place. Yada, yada, yada. That’s all bullsh*t.”
“You’re never gonna recover from this. Never,” he added.
Jax wasn’t entirely wrong that you never get over the loss of a parent. But viewers who saw the video thought his message was a little harsh. Do you agree?
