Catherine Shares Heartwarming Summer Moments With Her Children For Royal Engagement In London

The summer holidays may be over, but Princess Catherine has offered the public a rare and heartfelt glimpse into how she, Prince William, and their three children spent the warmer months together.

On Monday, September 8th, the Prince and Princess of Wales, both 43, made a warm and cheerful appearance at the National Federation of Women’s Institutes in London. Over tea and home-baked treats — including chocolate brownies, a longtime favorite of Prince William’s — the couple mingled with WI members. But it was Catherine’s candid reflections about her children that truly captivated those in attendance.

Asked how the family had spent their summer, Catherine revealed their household had been buzzing with activity — quite literally.

“We’ve been crafting in every corner of the house,” the Princess said with a smile, describing the endless energy and imagination of Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.

From painting and drawing to DIY projects, the Wales home had become what she called a “hub of creativity.”

Catherine also spoke warmly about her passion for beekeeping and how simple hobbies — crafting, gardening, making things with your hands — can bring families and communities closer together.

“It’s not just about the activity itself,” she explained. “It’s about the time you spend together, the conversations you have, and the memories you create.”

This focus on creativity in childhood is a theme Catherine has long championed through her Shaping Us campaign with the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood. Earlier this year, she delighted royal watchers by sharing portraits of herself drawn by George, Charlotte, and Louis — each showcasing their budding artistic style.

For Catherine, these moments of shared creativity are more than playful distractions. They are building blocks for emotional resilience, empathy, and self-expression.

Meanwhile, Prince William charmed the room with his own reflections on family life. When asked if the youngest, Prince Louis, was a handful, William laughed before replying affectionately:

“He’s a character, but he’s a very good boy. He does like to wind his brother and sister up, though.”

He also shared a lighthearted insight into Prince George, who is often seen as the most composed of the three Wales children in public:

“George just knows how to behave in front of everyone. But when he’s behind closed doors, it’s completely different.”

The candid comments painted a picture of a lively, playful home — one filled with laughter, sibling rivalries, and the universal challenges of parenting.

With summer behind them, the Wales children have returned to Lambrook School, where they have studied together since 2022. But this year marks a turning point: it will be the last year all three siblings share the same school. Prince George, who turns 13 next summer, is expected to move on to his next stage of education. While the family has not yet confirmed his next school, speculation continues to swirl that he may follow in his father’s footsteps at Eton College.

For William and Catherine, these transitions underscore the delicate balance they strive to maintain: nurturing their children’s growth and independence while cherishing fleeting moments of family life.

Though their royal schedule is demanding, Monday’s engagement with the WI reminded the public of something deeper — their humanity. Catherine’s willingness to share the messy, joyful, and creative chaos of family life makes her not only relatable, but deeply admired.

As she has often said:

“The early years of childhood shape who we are.”

And for George, Charlotte, and Louis, those years are being shaped by love, laughter — and plenty of craft supplies.
