The Valley Season 2 reunion pulled no punches, with the cast giving updates on fractured friendships and divorce statuses following a finale that left them more divided than ever.
Brittany Cartwright Shares Why Her Divorce From Jax Taylor Is Taking So Long To Be Finalized
Brittany Blames Jax For Delaying Their Divorce
On Season 2 of The Valley, Brittany Cartwright met with a divorce attorney to begin the paperwork to proceed with divorcing her husband of five years, Jax Taylor. The season was filmed in the summer of 2024, and still, the former couple are not yet officially divorced. So, what is the hold up?
During Part 1 of The Valley Season 2 reunion, host Andy Cohen asked Brittany for an update on her and Jax’s divorce. “Hopefully it’s happening soon,” she shared. The reality TV star then proceeded to share a very disturbing reason why the divorce is taking incredibly long.
“[Jax] called me the other day and said that he didn’t know if he was gonna get kicked off the show, so he was prolonging it in case he needed to get alimony from me.”
Surprisingly, Jax did not fight Brittany on her claim, stating that it was “somewhat true.”
During the season finale, the entire cast came together for a zen party hosted by Michelle Saniei, where Jax and Brittany sat down once again to discuss their divorce. When Brittany asked if he would finally sign the paperwork, Jax insisted he would wait “until the very last day,” further straining their already fractured relationship.
“Jax went from my very best friend to a person I loathe,” Brittany said to the cameras.

Everyone seems to be asking the same question: When will Jax and Brittany actually be divorced?
However, she too had an “official divorce date,” telling Andy, “October 15 is the new date — and it’s gonna happen.”
When Brittany filed for divorce in August 2024, she asked for legal and physical custody of Cruz. According to court documents obtained by People, Jax agreed to give Brittany full custody. On Season 2, Brittany would allow Jax to visit their son every so often after he got out of rehab. However, she was adamant that she would not allow Cruz to go to Jax’s new condo, fearing that there would be strangers and drugs in his home.
During part one of The Valley reunion, which was filmed in May, the former couple gave an update on their co-parenting situation.
Jax Hopes He And Brittany Can Get To A Better Place
Jax’s “Main Concern” Was Brittany Going Into The Valley Reunion
In a backstage interview before The Valley reunion taping, Jax was asked how he was feeling heading into it, knowing he’d have to face Brittany and confront all the hardships he put her though this season. Jax admitted that his “main concern” was his estranged spouse, and was hopeful that they’d get to a better place after the reunion.
“My main concern is just letting her know just how sorry I am we got to this place. I don’t know how we got here, but we got here. And basically just letting her know I will always love her and I will always be there for her and, obviously, she will be in my life for the rest of my life.”
He continued, “We have a son together, so, whatever I can do to be there for her and support her in her next venture, whatever she wants to do with her life, I will be here, and I will never live far away from her in case she needs me for anything and, of course, I don’t want to be away from my son.”
“So, like I said, just taking accountability for everything that I’ve done — and I’ve done a lot — and basically just saying I’m sorry, and that I hope she can forgive me.”
In April, Brittany revealed in an exclusive with People, that their son was diagnosed with autism and is “mostly nonverbal.”
“It can be difficult because I’ve never heard him say, ‘I love you,’ but he is so loving, and he shows me he loves me every single day,” she says. “He is such a mommy’s boy.”
“Our life is going to look a little bit different, but I feel like I was meant to be his mom,” she said. “He is my better half. He is my little partner in crime. He is everything to me, and even though he can’t talk, I know everything that he wants, everything that he needs. We’re just so synced, it’s incredible.”
